__ A couple views of the roof of the Pilgrims' Chapel. In the hospitals' bell turret still hangs the "Wakerel or Sanctus" bell which called the tenants to prayers. It was already an old bell when it was given as a gift to the hospital by the Dean and Chapter in 1584. It is noted now that the bell in the "bell cage" was cast in 1727, so it must have been replaced at some point. The wonderful piece of art you see above (Eadwine the monk) was also painted by Professor Tristam who created the piece above the Altar in the Chapel, |
