~ ROYAL EAST KENT MOUNTED RIFLES WAR MEMORIAL ~ ORIGINALLY NEAR ST. GEORGE'S TERRACE/GATE, CANTERBURY The Memorial was moved to High Street c. 1960 In 1856 the East Kent Yeomanry became the East Kent Mounted Rifles The unveiling of the Royal East Kent Mounted Rifles Memorial by Lord Harris on October 15, 1922 On the left hand side of the photo is Pettit and Son Stationers 1 St. George's Gate, and the buildings behind the crowd are Lower Bridge Street.
