An excavation of some sort, from an actual photo postcard of mine. Written on the back in pencil: 1922 Abb. H. III, Canterbury. Possibly archaeological digging in St. Augustine's Abbey, as they were digging there from about 1900 to the 30's. It could possibly be a tomb, as there is a similar photo (of the tomb only) in the English Heritage Book of St. Augustine's Abbey pg.32. It is a picture of the tomb of Abbot Roger II (1252-72). No photographers name on my card. Photo card is 13.8 cm x 8.8 cm.
