The ground underneath and in front of the covered area is where part of the church of St. Peter and St. Paul was situated. The covered area is where some of the burial sites were located.

The buildings you see in the background were part of St. Augustine's College, now the King's School. The Royal Palace wall is on the left of the photograph.
