Waiting for a procession, Canterbury

~ WAITING FOR A PROCESSION OR TO START ONE? ~

ROPER ROAD, CANTERBURY

The houses in the background of this photo are from Roper Road. Why the men are standing here is still a mystery. We believe this might be the gathering for the start of a parade, possibly of ex. military men. They likely would have "paraded" down St. Dunstan's street, through the Westgate and ended up in the Dane John. They all seem to be wearing some type of button on their lapel but I cannot make out exactly what it is.
